News release from Green Mountain Spinnery:

sheep trek to mountainSomething a little magical is happening in Putney this week: 30 ewes from David Major’s flock is headed our way to help clear the top of Putney Mountain.

David Major — of Vermont Shepard fame — (http://vermontshepherd.com/) has volunteered 30 of his ewes that have been taken off the milking line, a guard dog and fencing for as long as needed to clear our local landmark of invasive buckthorn, as the growing season winds up this month.

Not only is this exciting, but the way they are transporting the sheep is something special. They are leaving today, and heading on foot and hoof to the mountain top. It is likely to take 3 days, and we hope that they will arrive sometime this Friday.

We will share more photos and details of their journey (and visit) as we receive them!
